On April 10, 2017, Abattis Bioceuticals Corp (OTC: ATTBF | CSE: ATT) announced the appointing of a new CEO and President, Robert Abenante.

Rene David, the long-time CFO, had assumed an interim CEO position for several months prior. Many Abattis followers had been anticipating a new CEO coming on board for a while, so now that he’s here, it only makes sense to ask…

Who is this Robert Abenante?

From the press release, we know he’s supposed to have experience in “various industries, ranging from energy and mining to agriculture technology and nutraceuticals.”

But what about the specifics? What companies has Robert Abenante worked for? What positions has he held?

You’ll find his name by digging around on popular financial networks and corporate data scraper sites. But you probably won’t find a clean list that details his experience, unless…….

You have a Linked In profile, sign in, and then search for his name.

Robert Abenante’s Experience

He does seem to be quite entrepreneurial and his record indicates he has managerial experience in multiple industries. This includes green tech and health sciences, which will be paramount to the future growth of Abattis’ Northern Vine Labs.

Here’s Mr. Abenante’s experience based on his public Linked In profile (as of 4/19/17):

And a quick notice for the above – be aware the dates of employment may be slightly off. I’m not sure how often Mr. Abenante updates his Linked In profile, and I know plenty of people that don’t get around to doing so more than 1-2 times a year.

How About Endorsements?

Another section that caught my eye was Mr. Abenante’s “featured skills and endorsements.” Take a look for yourself (again, as of 4/19/17):

Robert's featured skills

You’ll note “Mergers & Acquisitions” near the top of the list?

It’s way too early to start making predictions. But with Northern Vine being 1 of only a few licensed labs to test cannabis in British Columbia – a province densely populated with licensed producers – don’t be surprised if they catch the attention of interested buyers early on. Having skilled management in this area could come in handy.

Robert Abenante has additional skills listed, and some of the most popular include:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Strategy
  • Finance
  • Management & Management Consulting
  • Restructuring
  • Corporate Development
  • Financial Modeling

Accounting & Finance Background

Don’t forget – Mr. Abenante is a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) and has several years of experience working as an accountant. Numbers, valuations, and forward investment projections are probably his world.

He has a bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance from Simon Fraser University and a Masters degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

I’m sure we’ll learn more about Abattis’ new CEO in the future. In the meantime, it’s nice to know Abattis has someone behind the wheel with experience and a sincere desire to build an empire in the green and cannabis space.

  1. Those creds look GOOD to me!! An expert in FINANCE and MERGERS. Attbf could find itself in buyout talks too in a year. We KNOW certified labs are important to Canada and its not easy to just get one up and running.

  2. Interesting, thanks. I wasn’t finding much online either, but the Linkedin information brought some clarity.

Let’s face it.. Abenante isn’t a big name, but it’s not like Abattis was going to recruit a Tim Cook or Richard Branson. He’s apparently been involved in the right climate to appreciate what the company can become with the proper direction and execution.

Welcome to Abattis, Robert! Please take us to the next level. Many of us have been patiently waiting for that, and hopefully it starts with Northern Vine bringing in BC clients.

  3. So the man is good with numbers
PwC: audit and assurance, consulting and tax services
Deloitte & Touche: auditing, accounting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services
We could have used him before the stock was halted in feb

  4. Doesn’t matter if new ceo is f***ing bill gates. If he doesn’t come out with news about northern vine this company is toast!!
